I haven’t been passionate about photography for long, it really started during the Covid lockdown months with a need to do something positive. But, my memories of photography go back a long way to my fathers home made dark room when I was a child. We always had photographs in our house.
I don’t know if I would have the patience for film, even with digital, I can’t wait to get the image out of the camera and onto the screen so that I can ‘play’ with it in Lightroom.
My camera history started with my sons school photography, Canon DSLR which was quickly replaced with a 5D mk4 as soon as the fever started. An impulse purchase of a long coveted ‘Object of Desire’ a used Hasselblad X1D 30c introduced me into Medium Format. The Hasselblad was a stunning image but a little to quirky and so last year was traded in on a new Fujifilm GFX 100s with is now difficult to be separated from! I love this camera and the ‘out of camera’ images it gives, so many pixels! However, I didn’t quite realise that I was going to have to buy a new computer and laptop to manage the files well!
I have learned so much in such a short space of time, so many Youtube videos and a couple of Photography Workshops, but still so much to get right. For me, it is now finding out what ‘my’ photograph is and developing that. I’ve learnt there is a big difference to a technically correct photo and something that has a meaning. Taking a picture ‘about’ something rather than ‘of’ something.
You take a lot of photos and have to put them somewhere, and hence this website. It would be great to get feedback both positive a negative as long as it is constructive. Images are very personal, what I like others won’t see.
I hope you enjoy browsing through and hopefully, find something you like.
